Jacek Czaputowicz
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Poland

H.E. Jacek Czaputowicz is Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, a position he has held since January 2018. He is a graduate of the Central School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw, a doctor of political science (Institute of Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences), and an associate professor of humanities (Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw). He also completed postgraduate studies at foreign universities (Oxford, among others). 

From 1988 to 1990, he was a member of the Civic Committee to the Chairman of the Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” (NFZZ Solidarność). 

In 1990, he started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, first as a Vice-Director, and later Director of the Department of Consular Affairs and Emigrants (1990 to 1992). From 1998 to 2006, he was Deputy Chief of the Civil Service. From 2006 to 2008, he held the position of Director of the Department of Strategy and Foreign Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2008 to 2012, he was Director of the National School of Public Administration. From January to September 2017, he headed the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was Undersecretary of State for legal and treaty issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as of September 2017. 

In 2007, Jacek Czaputowicz was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and in February 2017, he received the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity for his merits for the benefit of independence and sovereignty of Poland and respecting human rights in the Polish People’s Republic.
